Time needed: 15 minutes.

In this post, we are going to show you how to add a new user to Google Search Console. This tool used to be known as Google Webmaster Tools and is essential to building a healthy website that performs well on Google. It has many features allowing webmasters to monitor, diagnose, and optimise helping improve performance.
There are a few conditions that must be met before adding a new user:
The website property must already be set up and verified.
You must be an owner or have full access to the property to add new users
Now we’re ready to get started. There are 5 steps to this process and is a quite straightforward process.

  1. Log in through this link here: Google Search Console.

When logged in you will see a tab for a list of websites in the top left corner just below the ‘Google Search Console’ heading shown in the picture below. Select the website you want to add new users to.search-console-webmaster-tools

  2. Navigate to Settings Tab

Now that you have selected the correct website, scroll to the bottom of the left side tab and locate the ‘Settings’ tab. Click on settings as shown in the image below.search-console-webmaster-tools-add-new-user

Now you will see settings appear in the middle of the screen. From here you can find the ‘users and permissions’ shown in the picture below. Click on ‘users and permissions’ where you can then add or remove users.search-console-webmaster-tools-users-permissions

  4. Add new Users

Now you can change user and permissions. To add a new user, locate the ‘ADD USER’ button located at the right corner of the screen. A popup will open where you can add a new user by entering their email address. The next part is permissions which we explain in part 5.search-console-webmaster-tools-users

  5. Permissions

The type of permission will depend on what type of access you want the new user to have. We explain both below. To allow SEO Experts to optimise your account then you should give full permission.
Full user access: Can view rights to all data and can take some actions.
Restricted user access: Has restricted view rights on most data.
